As a Clorox Central Engineering resource and member of the Glad Manufacturing Technology Platform Engineering Team, individuals in this role will be an engineering and technical resource for Glad blown film extrusion film production systems at our production plants with emphasis on proprietary Glad systems. This engineer will emphasize the use of Clorox Engineering Practices, Standards, Specifications, Early Management Tools and overall World Class Operations principles to design, modify capability, and improve blown film extrusion and auxiliary system performance across the Glad North American locations with emphasis on the Amherst Plant. This position will be preferably based in Amherst, VA but other locations will be considered with more frequent travel required. The position requires periodic business travel which is expected to average about 30% annually and be dictated by work assignments. The Engineering Associate maintains close connection and involvement with Operations, R&D, and Clorox Central Engineering Team in Kennesaw while developing a close relationship with equipment system suppliers, specialized engineering firms and contractors to support operations and system improvements. The individual is part of a team that has a technical ownership and leadership of the Blown Film Extrusion Platform. The individual will lead assigned Platform areas that may include owning the management of change program, standard for theoretical rates, line capability matrix, equipment purchase specifications, short and long-term capital needs, etc. Responsibilities also include providing technical oversight and guidance to others across projects and engineering change requests impacting blown film extrusion systems. Provides technical support to manufacturing during instances of new or complex problems related to Blown Film Extrusion systems and proprietary systems incorporated into the line. Regularly provides engineering leadership, consulting or support for trials and tests with R&D and Operations. Routinely interacts with Glad Conversion Platform Team and Operations with regard to bag machine quality and performance opportunities for improvement and Commercialization Project integration. Critically review all proposed film and blown film extrusion equipment changes primarily focused on proprietary systems with regard to conformance to Clorox Engineering Standards and Platform Best Practices. Critical reviews also ensure machine safety, capability and overall theory of operation is not adversely impacted without full awareness of Division stakeholders. In collaboration with others defines, manages, and critically reviews work products from R&D and others to provide scope input, detail for equipment system, control system, cost estimates and other engineering work for Blown Film Extrusion projects. Will periodically perform function of capital project manager which includes responsibility for defining overall project scope, cost, schedule, obtaining AFE approval, procurement, and construction management. Using Clorox engineering standards and processes develop detailed project scope of work and cost estimates related to the design, functional changes and OEE improvements of Blown Film Extrusion Systems. Ensures that Glad proprietary blown film extrusion information / knowledge / innovations are kept trade secret within Clorox and the Glad business. What we look for:

Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution. 5
years of professional engineering experience. 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment desired. Project management or team leadership experience that should include managing external engineering resources, contractors or working with internal cross-functional teams. Experience and demonstrated success with manufacturing projects that includes new equipment installations, system modifications, new product manufacturing, or problem solving in a manufacturing environment. Technical competence and interpersonal skills that allow the individual to work well in formal and informal teams. Technical competence and interpersonal skills that allows the individual to influence and lead without a position of organizational authority. The position requires periodic business travel which is expected to average about 30% annually. B.S, Mechanical Engineering preferred. 8
years' experience in a progression of assignments in manufacturing and engineering developing increasing expertise and capability preferred. Above average written, listening and verbal communication skills and be able to communicate effectively with various levels and functions of a product supply organization - preferred. Mechanical and process engineering skills to lead and evaluate engineering design, equipment conditions and blown film extrusion process performance preferred. Able to apply engineering skills and experience to guide the design and evaluate blown film extrusion and auxiliary systems. Previous success in effectively organizing and leading meetings Previous success in operating effectively in cross-functional teams or leading those teams preferred. Previous experience and success with planning and organizing work independently and working with minimum supervision from a local manager Previous experience and success leading informal and formal teams Experience with continuous improvement project in a Lean Manufacturing or Zero Loss manufacturing culture preferred. Ability to establish and maintain effective business relationships with equipment suppliers and consultants Previous experience with blown film extrusion operations Leading an ongoing management of change process Experience with executing work with regard to standards and specifications
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
Mechanical EngineeringEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
